Keith Weimer is the current Chair of the General Faculty Council and a Research Librarian for the departments of History and Religious Studies. He received his B.A. in History from Allegheny College and his Masters in History and his Masters of Library and Information Sciences from University of Pittsburgh.

Throughout his career, he has worked in libraries at the University of Pittsburgh, Virginia Union University, the University of Richmond, and the University of Virginia. In 2017, he served as President of the Virginia Library Association (VLA), where he helped plan and preside over an annual conference for public and academic librarians. Under his leadership, the conference featured Margot Lee Shetterly, the author of the esteemed novel Hidden Figures. The purpose of this annual conference is to serve as a public forum for all libraries to share their innovative programs, including information literacy programs, diversity programs, technological implementation programs, preservation techniques, and cataloging techniques.

Furthermore, Keith serves as Chair of the Library Staff Council at the University of Virginia, where he facilitates discussions on topics important to U.Va. Library staff.

As a research librarian for the History and Religious Studies Departments, Keith focuses on understanding what the faculty is researching and teaching in the two departments and advocating for their needs for resources, as well as helping students understand how to get the most out of their research.

In the future, Keith hopes to see the University of Virginia libraries integrated into every aspect of the university, and he is also looking forward to seeing the completed Alderman Library renovation. Finally, Keith is excited to see what the new General Faculty Council members will accomplish in the upcoming year, and wants to congratulate Derick Williams on becoming the new chair of the council.
